Late Summer ’09

Despite some weather days, It’s been a great tarpon season. Look for some new photos to be posted soon.

While the “season” is winding down, there are still plenty of tarpon around and fewer boats to compete with. For just plain fun, try hitting the bait balls for Spanish, blues and kingfish around Dog Island and St George. Redfish, and some big schools, are still to be found on the shallowest flats. Work the edge of the flat on a low tide, use maximum stealth and avoid fishing the midday heat.

On a personal note, many of you know of the loss of my Maverick skiff in an accident this spring. Happily, the new Hell’s Bay Marquesa has proved an excellent replacement, approved by all.

Tight lines,

Captain Adam

I was finally able to get out friday for a scouting trip.

I found plenty of reds on the inside of Lanark Reef, and along the Hyw 98 docks.

Water should start to climb a little soon, so lookout for the next midday low tide, and be prepared to get real shallow. The fish will be real spooky in the cold water, so wading is a good way to go.

Tight lines.
